It's been a long day and I can barely keep my eyes open, but I am happy of the day's outcome - I've finally started to get along with JQuery and I am sure that soon my apps will get very fancy with those cool effects! Take a look at some fancy JQuery demonstrations:http://www.noupe.com/jquery/50-amazing-jquery-examples-part1.htmlhttp://docs.jquery.com/Tutorials:Live_Examples_of_jQuery Recently I started working on web forms and form fields validation within the CF on Wheels framework and since I practically learned...

After a year or more since I first laid my eyes on ColdFusion I am having some more thoughts that I would like to share with everyone regarding ColdFusion, its markup / scripting language (CFML) and now also Frameworks (Wheels specifically). I may already have written a post similar to this one, but I think it's always good to reevaluate some statements made in the past to see to where we came since then. This way often gives me a lot of good confirmations... not always, but in this case yes. I am sure everyone...

Recently I started to focus on ColdFusion on Wheels Framework and to be honest I am really starting to enjoy it so much that I just can't get off my computer even when soccer is on TV! For the last 5 days I've been glued to the chair, reading blogs, documentation, watching screen-casts and coding simple examples (inspired by Chris Peters' screencasts) that are really helping me learning to work with Wheels. The reason is the simplicity of everything in Wheels! My idea is to show you an example of what can a...

I had a rough night while trying to make an alternative validation system that would suit my needs of saving data from different forms into multiple database tables. When waking up I saw Cris Peters' email and some helpful notes in the CF On Wheels Google group. Here is the main part of our latest discussion. I am posting it because there are some nice ideas thrown on the the table. Chris had some nice suggestions about the way I should approach my problem and I also came up with some interesting ideas. I am more...

Since I've been neglecting ColdFusion and this blog for almost a year now (I wish I had a choice... have been too busy with other stuff), I guess it's finally time for one more post. I am now super excited to finally going along with everything that ColdFusion has to offer. After the first time I got across and installed a CF Framework (CF on Wheels) I am now happily discovering all the possibilities that a CF Framework throws on the plate for us. Since I first came across CFWheels (a year ago) the guys at the CFWheels...

My first CF Framework is installed - ColdFusion on Wheels! Just to try one. I Finally I took some time to do that even if it was 4 in morning and I was struggling to keep my eyes open! That must definitely show you, how big my enthusiasm is, or how crazy I am. :)But it was worth it and the installation took me very little time (a few minutes) - it is that easy. Of course it is, since you only have to download the .zip file, then unzip the folders, set a new data source in your CF Administrator and you're actually...

Since I was a bit down with morale lately (many things going on), my dear friend Doug was so kind to send me a link which he described as very encouraging. Thank you Doug. I really appreciate it! Of course I immediately clicked and here is what I could read. I definitely think it is worth sharing with everyone that thinks CF is no good. Last week I had a discussion with a European client regarding a Flex project with PHP as backend. After gone through the functional specification and finally discussing the project...

Wise people are telling me that instead of writing so much it would be better off if I would spend my time in learning ColdFusion practically. I do agree, that's definitely a good point. However I still feel that I should speak up. I have this strong feeling that this blog will one day find its purpose, despite a lot cynicism and criticism against ColdFusion among Slovenian developers. I am sure that all my efforts in discovering CFML and sharing everything in this blog will one day be proven to be a good investment...

On Twitter someone asked for help finding links about CF. Here are some useful links I have found of which some of them I already used in my earlier posts. However I also wanted to list all of them in one post in case someone needs to find more information quickly. If I will find more I will post them here, but for now this should be enough to get you started. At this point I would like to say thanks to Doug, Sarah, Paul and the rest of the ColdFusion Community for helping me out so much! If only people on Slovenian...
